Description/Job Summary

The Senior Benefits Analyst is responsible for leveraging benefits knowledge with data analytics to monitor the alignment of the financial objectives of the Firm’s benefit plans with the Firm’s overall business goals and initiatives.  


  • Manage invoicing reconciliation for carriers, administrators and vendors of Firm’s Health & Welfare and Retirement plans
  • Audit and premium reconcile records against carrier, payroll, and HRIS databases to maintain accuracy
  • Work closely with Accounting to perform general ledger reconciliation of all benefit plans; analyze gaps in reconciliation and provide recommended resolutions
  • Monitor financials in relation to overall benefit budget; provide trend analysis for overall benefit expenses costs
  • Provide technical support to Benefits team on data analytics, annual plan audits, government filings, benefit integrations, and other related compliance activities
  • Use analytics, metrics and knowledge of benefits legislation to assist management team with plan analysis, benchmarking, reporting of benefit programs plan design changes, legislative changes, rate renewals and review of vendors
  • Produce and present Financial Executive Summary to HR’s Chief Operating Officer
  • Assist in the review of claims experience, utilization trends and support the development of an Executive dash board and the feasibility of implementing a dependent eligibility audit
  • Monitor adherence to performance guarantees and Service Level Agreements across all benefit vendors and ensure processes are optimized
  • Work with internal Operations and HRIS teams to streamline benefit work streams and implement necessary control functions
  • Participate in Open Enrollment planning sessions and support implementation of new benefit plans and initiatives
  • Collaborate with outside consultant on market segmentation data; validate data with carriers and provide analytical assessments
  • Collaborate with third party auditors to support financial audits on claims
  • Calculate health coverage costs for annual W-2 reporting and submit to Payroll annually
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • 4-5 years of experience working in corporate benefits, or benefits consulting required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques
  • Strong technical knowledge of major benefit laws and regulations, including COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA & Heath Care Reform
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Work in team environment, as well as independently
  • Ability to learn various systems and databases
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Must have strong analysis/problem solving abilities, a proven ability to pay close attention to detail and show strong initiative
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead and drive projects through to completion
  • Can organize, prioritize, plan and multi-task work activities in a high pressure environment
  • Ability to resolve issues effectively and confidentially
  • Client-focused with the ability to provide customer service in a professional manner

Preferred Skills

  • Workday report writing experience preferred

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business/Finance, HR or related field required

Preferred Education

  • Certificate in Human Resources, CEBS or other benefit related program or certification preferred
