The Senior Manager of Pricing is responsible for assisting Senior Finance management personnel and Finance Committee members with all aspects of strategic pricing functions for the Firm. This includes profitability modeling, creation and tracking of AFAs and/or budgets. This Senior Pricing Manager l will assist in the evaluation, development and implementation of strategic pricing and project management capabilities and related processes, to support the Partners and clients of the Firm. This is expected to involve assisting with the implementation of best practices, new processes, technologies and resources.
Work with Finance leadership to develop new techniques for pricing across the Firm’s practices and geographies
Assist in preparation of profitability projections for pricing alternatives in collaboration with Finance leadership, responsible Partners and the Finance Committee
Analyze client profitability and identify areas for improvement
Develop financial models, templates, documentation, status reports, etc. utilizing internal and external programming resources to support Partners in forecasting and monitoring AFAs and budgets
Develop and maintain pricing databases and tools using historic data mining in order to create more accurate fee estimates and track pricing best practices.
Assist Partners with analysis from matter inception through the life of a matter to create pricing strategies for RFP responses, as well as during client pricing negotiations, and develop staffing scenarios to maximize leverage and profitability
Review performance of existing pricing agreements to identify opportunities for enhancing current and future performance
Track competitive market data and pricing trends by region, practice area or other relevant differentiator
Identify and partner with pricing contacts within client organizations. Build relationships with these contacts to deepen the Firm’s understanding of client priorities on matters
Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in strategic financial/pricing analysis and reporting in a law firm or a professional services firm, with Excel modeling, profitability analysis and budgeting/forecasting
Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to create complex Excel models and provide pricing scenarios for discussion with senior management.
Significant working understanding of alternative fee arrangements and pricing of legal/professional services
Advanced analytic and problem solving skills with the ability to utilize tools to compile and analyze data, and recommend and/or Implement solutions to complex problems
Demonstrated ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Experience working with all levels of personnel within law firms and clients
Excellent written, presentation, problem solving and negotiation skills
Proven ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands and priorities
Advanced proficiency in developing and maintaining pricing tools and databases
