Description/Job Summary

The Senior System Administrator is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and administering the Firm’s computer servers and worldwide network.


  • Provide 24x7 support coverage for a global multi-site, multi-platform, 24/7 Windows server environment
  • Perform daily maintenance for servers, storage systems, firm applications and processes
  • Perform network design and implementation
  • Install new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, resolve software related problems, and perform system backups and recovery
  • Proactively monitor server and application health; recommend changes supported through fault detection, isolation, resolution and root cause analysis as required
  • Plan and execute changes to the production environment
  • Document and test Disaster Recovery procedures
  • Conduct server replacement and data migration
  • Support production level infrastructure to ensure minimum user impact; address issues of system integration in terms of client support and security compliance
  • Develop procedures for application system testing and validation to ensure system integrity
  • Modify existing application systems to correct errors or to improve performance
  • Construct root cause analysis of issues in order to determine appropriate course of action with vendors and/or project team
  • Work critical outages/degradations on nights or weekends as required
  • Stay abreast of latest product upgrades and industry trends
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • 4 to 6 years of relevant experience required
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019 including Windows clustering
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Knowledge of Virtualization technologies such as VMware and HyperV
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking and its major protocols (DNS, DHCP)
  • Knowledge of  Cisco networking and the ability to configure Cisco routers and switches
  • Understanding of iSCSI SAN technologies
  • Experience using one or more scripting languages (Powershell, VBscript, Perl or other) to automate administration tasks
  • Knowledge of major dynamic routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, or OSPF) desired

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Riverbed WAN Optimizer, Pure SANs, Dell/EMC Isilon, Dell/EMC Data Domain data reduplication, Dell/EMC Networker, Cisco switches, and/or C++ or C# or similar programming language preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
