Description/Job Summary

The Business Analyst collaborates with departments across the Firm to identify, define and document business processes and requirements.  They serve as a liaison between business and IT teams by facilitating communication and determining objectives that align with stated and unstated business needs.  They also work with business teams to document business cases for requested projects. 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Obtain a deep understanding of relevant business area(s) to be able to work with project stakeholders to elicit, document, agree and prioritize requirements
  • Shape business requirements by making alternative recommendations to proposed solutions
  • Source, evaluate and select solutions that best fit business requirements
  • Translate conceptual user requirements into detailed functional requirements
  • Work with business and delivery teams to prioritize requirements and articulate business cases and benefits realization plans
  • Create artifacts as appropriate including scope documentation and process flows.  Document current processes and models to understand inefficiencies or gaps
  • Assist business users in implementing and making best use of software solutions to ensure realization of benefits.  Identify and assist in prioritizing opportunities to streamline business processes
  • Develop and maintain acceptance criteria for project deliverables.  Review delivery team output to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted
  • Support delivery teams as they develop, test and deploy solutions
  • Use process improvement methodologies and tools to assist business users to analyze, design and implement more effective processes
  • Assist with delivery of and transfer to business-as-usual for project deliverables

Required Experience

  • Experience as a Business Analyst in a business change and / or project-based environment
  • Experience creating documentation such as business case documentation, business requirements summaries and tracking of ROI
  • Demonstrated experience with standard software applications, including MS Office, PowerPoint and Excel

Preferred Experience

  • Training ability/experience is preferred (ideally Business Analysis training)

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; or equivalent years of experience required

Preferred Education

  • Professional certifications as appropriate are preferred (e.g., PRINCE2, CAPM, PMP, etc.)
