The Catering & Conference Assistant is responsible for assisting the Catering & Conference Coordinator and Senior Catering & Conference Coordinator in completing daily catering and food service functions in the D.C. office.
Responsibilities/Duties
Organize and coordinate requests, effectively communicate with attorneys, staff, clients and vendors ensuring that the service runs smoothly and efficiently
Effectively serve as point of contact for food delivery and pick up of restaurant and catering orders
Oversee catering requests, ensure orders are delivered accurately, product quality and quantity meets standards and all requested items are received
Set-up and break-down food and beverage for all on-site meetings and events according to Firm standards
Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels in kitchens, break rooms and market vending area
Ensure food preparation safety standards follow sanitation and cleaning procedures based on Health Department guidelines; assist with food and beverage prep and set as needed
Oversee cleanliness of common areas (Café, Catering Room, pantries, conference rooms) and related equipment before and after use
Works directly with vendors to order food/services
Schedule equipment service as necessary
Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills
Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Ability to quickly learn new computer programs (EMS)
Strong attention to detail
Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
Can prioritize and multi-task work activities, with the ability to effectively meet deadlines in a high pressure environment
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
Client-focused with the ability to provide customer service in a professional manner
Must be available to work all scheduled events onsite and off-site as needed
Required Experience
Either 1+ year of experience in catering or food service or 1+ year in a professional services environment
