Description/Job Summary

The Business Development Senior Coordinator will collaborate closely with the partners in the Houston office and the Firm’s Business Development team to provide support for the Firm’s business development and marketing efforts involving the Firm’s Houston Office and its Energy Practice. 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Collaborate closely with the Firm’s Business Development team and the partners in the Houston office to provide business development support to the lawyers in the Houston Office and in the Energy/Oil and Gas practices generally.
  • Coordinate and execute firm events and promotional activities to support the Houston office, Energy sector and related practices, both on and off-site, including client dinners, industry conferences, speaking engagements, client CLEs and seminars, and other event activities. 
  • Manage the business development requests and activities of the Houston Office and the Energy Practice, in collaboration with the Firm’s Business Development Team, including:

    -- Preparing effective client pitches, client presentations and RFPs, and tracking/reporting results.

    -- Developing and maintaining practice marketing materials, including attorney bios and practice group descriptions. 

    -- Preparing directory and award submissions and survey responses for various legal and business directories and publications.

    -- Managing charitable sponsorships, client gifts, and promotional items.

  • Collaborate with the Business Development Marketing Technology team to collect and manage data for the Firm’s contact database.
  • Coordinate with the lawyers and staff in the Houston office and the Firm’s Business Development team to maintain the Firm’s deals and cases database, the Firm’s pitch and referral tracking, its CRM system, and other tracking related to Houston business development.
  • Assist with other projects that may be assigned.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in marketing or business development in a professional services environment. Experience working in legal, financial services and/or energy industries is desirable.  Experience working in a large law firm a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a highly competitive and demanding environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and self-motivated to produce accurate, timely and complete work product.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills, initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to leverage institutional knowledge in own work.
  • Demonstrated introductory knowledge of full range of Business Development skill set.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Houston legal market and the energy industry, including the Oil and Gas sector is a plus.
  • Confident, positive self-starter who can win the trust of lawyers and administrative professionals.
  • Proven ability to think creatively, using good judgment and decision-making capabilities.
  • Outstanding client service mentality, compatible with our collaborative, team-based approach.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs such as Outlook, Power Point, Excel, and Word.
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally.
  • Must be willing and able to work outside of regular business hours as needed.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred Education

  • Major in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Public relations or related field
