Description/Job Summary

The Manager of Legal Practice Training is a member of the Legal Training and Development team, and is responsible for supporting our practice groups in updating and enhancing practice-specific training curriculums for the Associate population, with the aim of providing top quality development and learning experiences for this key talent population. This role requires a highly organized, innovative, engaged individual with an aptitude for strong client service excellent written/verbal communications skills, and effective management and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Partner with the Director of Legal Training and Development, Practice Group Heads, Practice Group Training Partners, Professional Development Managers, and Practice Group Knowledge Management Lawyers to identify practice-specific training needs focused on technical, substantive legal skills and knowledge at each level of Associate development (junior, mid, senior).
  • Enhance existing practice group curriculums to meet identified training needs, creating an annual curriculum of training programs specific to each practice group.
  • Measure and assesse training programs for relevancy and impact, and sustains, modifies, or replaces programs and/or program elements as appropriate based on current and anticipated needs.
  • Stay current on trends and innovations in the talent development field and adult learning,  both within and outside the legal industry.
  • Work closely with the Director of Legal Training and Development, Head of Coaching, and other internal and external partners on programs focused on development of broader professional and career development skills.
  • Maintain existing and potential relationships with external training providers and presenters.
  • Work with, and provide direction to, Legal Training Coordinators on day-to-day program implementation.
  • Manage budget related to practice-specific training curriculums.
  • Collaborate with broader Legal Training and Development team on special projects, including firm-wide programs, as needed.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and a resource for key stakeholders regarding legal practice training initiatives.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with and knowledge of adult learning concepts and program design

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of related experience in a law firm, or JD with prior experience as an Associate in a large law firm

Salary Information

The estimated base salary range for this position is $175k to $250k at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
