Description/Job Summary

 The Knowledge Department’s mission is to improve client value, efficiency and professional satisfaction by streamlining processes, capturing and leveraging the Firm’s knowledge by turning matter data into useful insights, and helping lawyers find documents and information faster. 

The Content Management Coordinators (CMCs) assist with the maintenance of the Firm’s knowledge solutions including the knowledge bank and practice intelligence system where we collect information about the Firm’s experience. The Coordinator will provide services including data entry, extraction and migration as well as legal technology support.  The Coordinator will work with the Knowledge Resources Manager and the Knowledge Management Specialists to ensure the integrity of records.

As a CMC at Simpson Thacher, you will have the opportunity to work with a team that is breaking new ground in knowledge and innovation by impacting the delivery of KM services to the Firm.  

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Under the direction of the Knowledge Resources Manager, configure fields, reports, and workflows in various databases and systems
  • Perform data entry and data migration, cleanup and housekeeping on various databases and systems (e.g. entering data from hard-copy (PDF) forms into an electronic database)
  • Cross reference data to ensure accuracy, non-duplication and to resolve any data discrepancies
  • Upload documents and other content  into a variety of databases and systems including SharePoint and iManage, the Firm’s document management system
  • Conduct research to locate missing pieces of information or to verify data in order to maintain accurate records (e.g. ensuring each record has links to key documents)
  • Configure and maintain sites, content libraries and pages on SharePoint 2013/Online
  • Create reports to assist KM Specialists with analysis of usage of materials and to identify underdeveloped content areas
  • Monitor the Knowledge Management inbox and respond to attorney requests, escalating requests to KM Lawyers or other resources when required
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer, Director of Knowledge Management or Knowledge Resources Lawyer
  • Provide administrative support, as needed

Required Experience

  • Experience in an office setting
  • Experience with MS Office; tech savvy
  • Outstanding written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to proofread for contextual, grammatical and spelling errors
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, plan and multi-task work activities in a high-pressure environment with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Sound judgment with respect to confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn

Preferred Experience

  • Previous work with a law firm or knowledge department preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Salary Information

The estimated base salary range for this position is $55k to $65k at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is non-exempt meaning that it is overtime pay eligible.
