The Senior Manager, PPMO (Project Portfolio Management Office) leads the project management team and is responsible for establishing, enhancing, and enforcing repeatable processes designed to increase use of technology as a business enabler. This position facilitates program and project planning, prioritization, collaboration, resource planning/staffing, and reporting across groups to deliver end-products. The Sr. Manager will demonstrate a thorough understanding of project management methodologies, as well as the ability to execute and interact with business partners and cross-functional teams to ensure strategic objectives are achieved. This role will work in close collaboration with all IT Leadership and business department heads to ensure the focus remains on quality and timely delivery, while leveraging repeatable collaboration processes and maintaining integrity.
Responsibilities/Duties
Responsible for all aspects of PPMO – project demand, project portfolio, project roadmap, PMO resources, PPM tools, stakeholders, project budgets, and reporting.
Works closely with all constituents to prioritize programs and projects based on business needs, resource capacity, risk exposure, and interdependencies.
Leads, manages, coaches, develops, and mentors direct, cross-functional, matrix and/or extended team members who directly or indirectly support the PPMO
Helps define and drive the adoption of program and project management methodology.
Responsible for the ability to create and conduct a department/enterprise-wide metrics program for measuring the effectiveness of IT and technology.
Ensures proper project staffing.
Responsible for resource capacity management through time tracking and forecasting. Includes resource acquisition and onboarding.
Oversees PPMO resource training and provides ongoing coaching.
Develops executive-level briefing material and associated analytics to guide program and project decision making.
Provides subject matter expertise to executive management around program and project management, and IT governance best practices, with emphasis on trends and impact for the legal industry.
Required Skills
10+ years of experience in IT
5+ years of experience as a project manager
Related certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM)
Strong strategic thinker and planner; Detail-oriented.
Analytical skills: outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, including taking the initiative to drive issues to effective resolution. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Flexibility and adaptability in work approach.
Ability to work effectively with both technical and business executives.
Expertise with building network of relationships across functions.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with staff at all levels, recognizing business demands and the specific challenges of each.
Excellent interpersonal skills: able to work across business lines at senior levels to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.
Significant experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs. Ability to manage all aspects of large-scale programs to bring about organizational change.
Experience coaching and motivating teams, particularly project managers.
Proven understanding of project management language and methodologies, tools, and techniques such as PMI (PMBOK), SCRUM, PRINCE2, etc.
Proven knowledge of software development lifecycle, information management, asset management, data classification, and vulnerability resolution.
Proven expertise with all aspects of IT business operations – strategic planning, portfolio/budget/resource/demand planning and management, IT governance, enterprise shared services, risk management, sourcing/vendor and vendor risk, executive reporting and communications.
Preferred Skills
Experience in the legal industry a plus

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education required

Salary Information
The estimated base salary range for this position is $215k to $230k at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
